Software during the day. 3D and VFX when the day's not enough. This site is both.

I'm Atharva Patil, based in Navi Mumbai. I build privacy-focused software and developer tools under Northbyte Studios, and I'm a first-year VFX and 3D student on the side. Open source where it makes sense, free forever where I can manage it.

Currently: Nexus audit & fixes  ·  Obscura v0.9.0 (side project)  ·  Kanvaz v3 planning  ·  this site

I'm Atharva Patil, based in Navi Mumbai. I write code that seals vaults and build tools that help artists think, under Northbyte Studios. First-year VFX & 3D student. Open-source contributor. Taking on select freelance work.

Tools over products. Free-forever licensing where it makes sense. Clean dark interfaces, built deliberately.

Software Engineer · Founder, Northbyte Studios

[email protected] github.com/p4inz-code p4inz (Discord) Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Software engineer focused on desktop applications, developer tooling, and product engineering. I build software from architecture through production — combining engineering, UI/UX, testing, documentation, branding, and long-term maintenance. My work emphasizes privacy, performance, maintainability, and developer experience.

Founder & Software Engineer

Northbyte Studios

June 2026 — Present

Independent software studio developing desktop applications, engineering platforms, creative software, and open-source systems. Full-cycle ownership: architecture, product engineering, UI/UX, testing & QA, documentation, branding, and release engineering.

Featured Work

Tech Stack

  • C# on .NET 8 LTS
  • WPF for the desktop UI (Windows-native)
  • AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption for local storage
  • Fully offline, no network dependency

Engineering Highlights

  • Offline-first architecture — no server, no sync layer, no account system
  • Zero telemetry by design — no analytics, crash reporting, or network calls of any kind
  • Encryption applied at the storage layer, not bolted on after the fact
  • Core engineering complete; current work is UI refinement and release validation

Role / Ownership

Sole engineer. Architecture, encryption design, UI/UX, testing, debugging, and release engineering.

Notes

No public repository at this stage. Flagship commercial product of Northbyte Studios.

Started
June 2026
Current Status
Public Beta — active development, solo developer
Next Milestone
Public release, aligned with portfolio launch

Tech Stack

  • TypeScript on Node.js
  • Modular monorepo — independently testable packages
  • SQLite for local, offline storage
  • Vitest, ESLint, Prettier for testing and code quality
  • OpenAI-compatible provider architecture (AI layer, planned)

Engineering Highlights

  • Deterministic analysis engine — no black-box AI scoring or cloud lookups
  • Evidence graph connecting findings, behaviors, rules, artifacts, and risk dimensions
  • AI intentionally limited to a read-only explanation layer — it never performs detection or influences results
  • Offline-first with no mandatory cloud dependency and no telemetry
  • Package boundaries with deterministic APIs and comprehensive testing across core domain models, analysis engine, correlation engine, risk engine, and explainability engine

Role / Ownership

Solo developer. System architecture, security design, software engineering, package design, API design, testing strategy, documentation, UX planning, and performance planning.

Current Status
Released — two versions shipped
Next Milestone
Public case study with full architecture breakdown

Tech Stack

  • TypeScript, strict mode, no any
  • Node.js standard library — zero native dependencies
  • ESM-first module system
  • Stable JSON schema for AI/agent consumption

Engineering Highlights

  • Deterministic static analysis engine — no LLM calls, pure structural analysis
  • Interactive workspace model: an "Object × Lens" approach to viewing a repo from multiple analytical angles
  • 8-dimension health scoring system covering documentation, testing, consistency, and tooling
  • Dependency graph construction with circular dependency and layer-violation detection
  • Single filesystem walk with shared content cache across all analysis passes

Role / Ownership

Sole engineer. System architecture, analysis engine design, CLI/workspace UX, documentation, and release engineering.

Next Milestone
V3 interactive UI in progress

Tech Stack

  • Electron desktop shell
  • Vanilla JavaScript
  • Local .kanvaz JSON-based save format, versioned per release

Engineering Highlights

  • Reference Connection System — 7 typed relationship kinds (Related To, Inspired By, Derived From, and more), with a dedicated Inspector panel
  • Map View — a node-editor-style graph of the whole board, bezier cable connections, independent pan/zoom from the board canvas
  • Board tabs, Top Mode (distraction-free, hide all UI), and a Developer Mode (FPS overlay, diagnostics, debug export)
  • Fully local-first — no account, no cloud sync, autosave crash recovery

Role / Ownership

Sole engineer. Architecture, UI/UX design, testing, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.

Audience

Built specifically for artists, designers, and creative professionals who need a fast, private reference board.

Project Ascent

Not part of core software engineering identity

A 2D precision platformer built in Godot 4, focused on movement feel, responsive controls, and atmospheric level design. Browser-first, with an offline-first design goal. Currently in pre-production / prototyping — exploring game feel and systems design rather than shipping features.

Engine: Godot 4 Language: GDScript Status: Pre-production / prototype
